Dental tourism is increasingly popular in India, where foreigners travel to take advantage of cheap dentistry procedures compared to their home country. By shadowing and observing a local dentist, volunteers are able to see a range of procedures and learn by seeing them in action.
This project is ideal for dentistry students in the early stages of their study, or even those interested in pursuing dentistry, who have no experience. Due to governmental regulations, volunteers are unable to do hands-on work, so more senior students or qualified dentists should have realistic expectations for what you’ll be doing. It may be best to use your observations as part of further research or a project.
The clinic you’ll be volunteering in is very well established and is run by an enthusiastic local dentist who is able to offer good insight into running an practice and individual treatments and procedures. This kind of experience is very similar to an internship.
The Dentistry project has a minimum duration of two weeks and a surcharge of $50 per week to cover the extra supervision and materials that are required. This amount will be included in the Program Fee quoted to you by IVHQ when you apply.Apply now
