            Environmental Sustainability in

As a result of the rising population, a growing manufacturing sector, and global climate change, Chicago has been classified as one of the most polluted cities in the USA. This in turn has resulted in vulnerable populations suffering from the side effects of this pollution. The Environmental Sustainability project takes a multi-faceted approach to combating this issue by focusing on sustainability, recycling and environmental education initiatives.

            Environmental Sustainability Chicago with IVHQ

Volunteers on this project can expect to work with sustainable community partners in community gardens, public parks and lakes, urban farms, and other outdoor spaces to assist efforts toward making these spaces clean and environmentally sustainable. You will help to combat the pollution in these areas by promoting the viable use of green spaces, tree planting, assisting with nature conservation efforts such as the removal of invasive species, and environmental education within the community via outreach programming, which in turn will help to make the city a healthier, safer and environmentally sustainable place for those who reside there.

If you like getting your hands dirty, working in nature and are passionate about environmental sustainability efforts then this is the project for you!

It’s important to note this project predominantly involves working outside and you should keep this in mind for the time of year you are choosing to volunteer. You should come prepared for the seasonal weather and be particularly aware that winter in Chicago can be very cold.

Volunteering on the Environmental Sustainability program enables you to contribute towards initiatives that help combat pollution in the city, which not only preserves native plants and animals - but can also help protect many lives.

                  Environmental Sustainability in

In the past decade, climate change has had a severe impact on San Diego, bringing with it prolonged heat waves and natural disasters that are devastating the native plant and animal population. This paired with an increase in air pollution and rising sea levels are threatening the city’s existence going forward. The Environmental Sustainability project takes a multi-faceted approach to combating these issues by focusing on long term, sustainable initiatives to protect the delicate ecosystems that are being threatened.

Environmental Sustainability San Diego with IVHQ

Volunteers on this project can expect to work with sustainable community partners to plant trees and other plant species to mitigate the erosion of the shoreline, maintain the coastal ecosystems through beach cleanups, promoting the viable use of green spaces, assist with nature conservation efforts such as the removal of invasive species, and environmental education within the community via outreach programming, which in turn will help to make the city a healthier, safer and environmentally sustainable place for those who reside there.

If you like getting your hands dirty, working in nature and are passionate about environmental sustainability efforts then this is the project for you!

                  Why volunteer in San Diego?

As the birthplace of California, San Diego boasts a fusion of cultures, rich history, delicious food, unique neighborhoods, sweeping coastal views, surf beaches and year-round sunshine. Sadly, this city is beginning to feel the effects of global warming with rising sea levels, an increase in wildfires, storms and heatwaves and reduced populations of native plant and animal species. Volunteering on our Environmental Sustainability program helps combat these issues by conserving biodiversity and the shoreline, while enabling you to soak up San Diego’s sights like a local.

                    Youth Support in

New Orleans is a city that’s known for its colorful character, and much of this is the result of artistic expression from those living in fringe communities. However, the people that can be so influential in shaping the city also need support, especially in the vulnerable teenage years.

Volunteer youth workers support disadvantaged children and teens through education, providing safe spaces for learning, development and expanding horizons. These programs are designed to help support young people and encourage them to develop positively, while teaching them valuable skills for adulthood.

Youth Support volunteering in the USA with IVHQ

You’ll be placed in a school, community center or church to help facilitate programs and assist them in preparing to host young people. Tasks can include providing supervision, tutoring and positive interactions for the youth at these centers. Not all volunteer tasks will involve working directly with young people, and you can also expect to help these organizations by beautifying spaces, re-organizing classrooms, preparing materials, cleaning, painting and other important administrative support tasks.

The Youth Support project in New Orleans is well suited to volunteers who are passionate about helping young people to fulfil their potential, and willing to help lay the foundations in order for that to happen.

                    Why volunteer in New Orleans?

New Orleans is a place like no other. It’s one of the most vibrant cities in the world and famed for its live music, festivals, food, nightlife, friendly locals, blend of cultural influences and buzzing atmosphere. Sadly, the city’s youth face high poverty rates, a significant achievement gap, poor physical and mental health, and a high percentage are disconnected from work and school. Volunteering on our Youth Support program enables you to provide young people with a safe space to learn, grow and connect with others, while experiencing the magic of New Orleans through the eyes of a local.
