New Conservation Projects Launch

IVHQ is happy to announce a pair of brand new conservation projects for our volunteers in Guatemala! Here's what to expect in our two newest projects...

Lake Conservation

IVHQ Lake Conservation project in GuatemalaTravel out to the beautiful Lake Atitlan (about 4 hours from the home base in Antigua) and be teamed up with a local NGO focused on environmental education, resource management and outdoor clean-up. Volunteers can help steer their own projects based on their unique interests, and can work on community education in schools or with women’s groups, or help implement recycling programs, natural fertilization techniques and water treatment facilities. This project is perfect for volunteers who want to experience the “real” Guatemala, and serves well as an internship for green resume-building or school projects.

Eco-Agriculture Conservation

IVHQ's Eco-Agriculture project in GuatemalaJoin with an NGO just outside of Antigua and help bring sustainability and economic solvency to a cooperative of small coffee farmers. Volunteers work alongside the farmers in all aspects of coffee production, from planting and tending baby trees in the nursery, to pruning and working in the fields. Depending on the time of year, volunteers can even harvest coffee cherries and help with the processing to convert them into commercial coffee beans. It is a great way to learn where your morning brew comes from and truly help local producers at the same time - just be prepared to get your hands dirty!
