Virtual Spanish Language Lessons
If you would like to improve your Spanish language ability before starting your volunteer program, our team in Buenos Aires deliver interactive online Spanish lessons that are popular with IVHQ volunteers.
The virtual Spainish lesson content is created and delivered by qualified teachers of Spanish as a second language, who have extensiove experience teaching both online and in the classroom. The online Spanish course focuses not only on teaching Spanish but also providing you with valuable vocabulary and tools needed to help you prepare for your volunteer project.
The virtual language classes are taught via Zoom and Google Classroom and volunteers can choose to join small group classes or personalized private classes which cater for all language abilities from beginner to advanced. Class timetables will be set with the provider once a volunteer has secured their place.
Each 1-week course consists of 15 hours of learning. Group classes take place across 5 classes per week. Each class will be 80 minutes in duration, Monday through Friday, delivered in two blocks of 40 minutes. This gives volunteers a total of 6 online contact hours per week. Outside of these contact hours volunteers will complete assignments and have access to a Q&A forum.
Individual classes consist of 5 classes per week, Monday through Friday, and each class will be between 60 and 80 minutes in duration. Outside of these contact hours volunteers will complete assignments and have access to a Q&A forum.
Volunteer progress will be assessed by the coordinator and teachers through the online syllabus which will be used to track the progress and performance of each student. All volunteers will be provided with a Certificate of Completion at the end of each week and can request a formal final assessment if they wish.

If you wish to participate in the virtual Spanish language lessons prior to your arrival in Argentina, you must indicate this on your application form when you apply for the program. Your IVHQ Program Manager will then assist you in booking and paying for the lessons in order to begin. These language classes are very popular among IVHQ volunteers and we recommend all volunteers take advantage of these, as it is a great way to help settle any language barriers and culture shock you can face when arriving in Argentina.
In-country Spanish Language Lessons
