A number of neighborhoods in Cape Town have computers available for public use, however very few locals are computer literate and able to utilize these facilities. As a volunteer on the Computer Training project, you’ll help to teach basic computer skills, providing local children with access to the internet and the opportunity to up-skill and improve their future employment prospects.
You’ll be based in a local school, helping to teach the basics of operating a computer to students aged between 7-14. You don’t need to be a computer genius, but should have a good understanding of general computer systems and software platforms, and ideally have some relevant qualifications.
This project is closed during school holidays, and volunteers during holiday time will instead help on a school holiday project. Please note that students take part in exams at the end of each school term, so computer training is limited during these periods.
