Volunteers in Ubud, Bali stay in shared volunteer accommodation located approximately 15 minutes from central Ubud. The volunteer house is set in a small local village, offering an immersive experience of traditional Balinese life while remaining close to the cultural heart of Ubud.

What is the volunteer accommodation like in Ubud?
The volunteer house offers dorm-style living with shared facilities and communal spaces. Amenities include:
- Bedrooms with fans
- Shared bathrooms
- Hot water showers
- Western-style toilets
- A spacious outdoor dining area for group meals and socializing
The outdoor common areas create a relaxed atmosphere where volunteers can connect and enjoy time together after their placements.
How are rooms arranged?
Bedrooms are shared with up to seven volunteers of the same gender. Living arrangements are simple, comfortable, and designed for community-style living.
Is WiFi available?
Yes. WiFi is available at the volunteer accommodation. Several internet cafés in central Ubud also offer higher-speed connections if needed.
Is the accommodation secure?
Yes. A security guard is on duty at night. There is also a 10:30 pm curfew at the volunteer house. Volunteers are expected to respect others and keep noise to a minimum after this time.
Can I arrive early or stay longer?
Additional nights of accommodation in Ubud can be arranged if you plan to arrive early or extend your stay after your program ends, subject to availability. Extra nights can be booked through your volunteer profile after registration.
Are private rooms available?
Private room upgrades are available, subject to availability. After completing your registration, you may request a private room. Upgrade accommodations are located approximately a five-minute walk from the main volunteer center.
Meals
As a volunteer in Bali, you’ll have the chance to experience the island’s rich and flavorful food while staying at the volunteer accomodation. Meals are primarily inspired by traditional Balinese-style cuisine, which focuses on light, plant based ingredients and locally sourced produce.
Typical daily meals include staples such as rice, fresh vegetables, tempeh and tofu, along with popular Indonesian favorites like:
- Nasi Goreng - Fried rice with vegetables and spices
- M-ie Goreng - Stir-fried noodles with vegetables
- Gado-Gado - A hearty mix of vegetables topped with creamy peanut (satay) sauce
To add some variety, the meals follow a monthly rotating schedule usually with western-style meals served twice a week. For breakfast, volunteers can expect options like pancakes, toast, cereal, eggs, fresh fruit, and traditional Balinese cakes. Coffee, and tea are available throughout the day, as well as purified drinking water, as tap water is not suitable for drinking. Bottled water is also easy to purchase and inexpensive throughout Bali.
Meals are provided three times a day on weekdays, and breakfast and dinner on weekends. If you feel like exploring the local culinary scene, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance that offer affordable and delicious options.
