My original goal for this experience was to gain more knowledge and understanding my dear friends culture, here in India he told me a lot about Thai culture and it made me really curious so i set out to find more about the culture and i found the best way to do that was volunteering, and i was right during the program I was able to see a side of Hua Hin Thailand that i wouldn't normally see as a tourist, the work on the beach the visit to the school and the different aspects of Thai culture like the mediation we did on our first day and tying a white thread to those dear to you or to those you wish good fortune upon and talking to various locals when I could helped me learn so much. I picked up a lot of useful language and knowledge about the culture I also realized the local situation and how much I want to help but most importantly I met so many kind people with a beautiful passion to help those in need and that has nurtured a new interest in me "volunteering". I will definitely be working with IVHQ again once I have completed my studies as for someone who is hesitant I will inspire them with the amazing stories I have gained form the volunteering experience and help them to take that leap!!

My advice to anyone who feels hesitant about joining this program is to step out of your comfort zone and just try it.
