If you plan on arriving early or departing a few days after your program has finished, IVHQ makes it easy to be flexible with your arrival and departure dates by offering extra nights of accommodation that you can pre-arrange before you depart. 

Important:
From June to August, due to high demand, volunteers must arrive on Sundays for airport pick-up. Early arrivals cannot be accommodated at the volunteer house, so if you arrive before Sunday, you will need to arrange your own accommodation and meet the team at an alternative pick-up location.  This also applies after the program, as check-out is on Saturday.

Early Morning Departure: We kick off from  Chiang Mai, heading North as the mist still clings to the mountains.

Natural Hot Springs Stop: Break up the drive with a visit to a local hot spring. It’s the perfect spot to stretch your legs before hitting the main attractions.

The White Temple (Wat Rong Khun): Step into a dreamscape. This world-renowned piece of contemporary art and architecture is famous for its intricate white carvings and surreal details. 

The Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten): A vibrant contrast to the morning. Explore the electric blue interiors and modern Thai artistry of this stunning temple - a masterclass in color and craftsmanship.

We’ll pick you up at 8 am in central Chiang Mai for a scenic drive through the lush, rural landscapes of Northern Thailand.

The "Sticky Waterfall" Experience (Bua Tong): Experience one of nature’s most unique phenomena. Unlike typical falls, the limestone here allows you to grip the surface and climb directly up the rushing water. It’s a refreshing, hands-on experience in a beautiful forest setting.

Lunch Break: Take a moment to reset and enjoy a traditional meal featuring local flavors, prepared to fuel the rest of your afternoon.

  • Huay Mongkol Temple & Buddhist Rituals: Experience the cultural richness of Huay Mongkol Temple and witness traditional Buddhist rituals.

  • Muay Thai Lesson: Learn the art of Muay Thai, a traditional Thai martial art.
  • Welcome and Goodbye Dinner: Gather for a special dinner to welcome new participants and bid farewell to those concluding their journey.

Friday
  • Breakfast at the accommodation
  • Crab Releasing: Take part in a meaningful conservation activity by releasing young crabs into their natural habitat, helping to support local marine ecosystems and sustainability efforts.
  • Khao Takiab Temple Visit: Explore one of Hua Hin's most iconic temples, known for its beautiful coastal views, cultural significance, and resident monkeys.
    Lunch at the accommodation
  • Krai Las Temple Experience: Visit a local temple to make traditional food offerings and participate in a guided meditation session, providing insight into Thai Buddhist customs and practices.
  • Dinner: Conclude the day with a delicious dinner and time to reflect on the week's experiences.
This schedule can be changed and/or amended depending on the needs of the project, local weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances

Important note:
The Culture Week is offered as an extension to your program duration and it’s a comprehensive orientation that runs for the first 5 days of your stay. Once you complete the Culture Week, you’ll be ready to start volunteering on the following Monday. This means that if you want to volunteer for 2 weeks and you add the Culture Week to your itinerary, you’ll be hosted by the local team for a total of 3 weeks.

The Culture Week only runs on the first and third Monday of each month so if this does not align with your program, you can join the Culture Week on the second week of your itinerary.
