I gained the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture in a way that goes beyond a typical vacation. Living with a host family allowed me to experience daily life firsthand and they shared their customs, helped me feel safe, and taught me how to navigate my surroundings. I also volunteered in a childcare program teaching English, where I saw how impactful it is for children to learn a global language and be exposed to new cultures and perspectives.
For anyone hesitant about joining the program, I would say that it’s a unique opportunity for both personal growth and meaningful connection. While it may feel outside of your comfort zone at first, the experience is incredibly rewarding and leaves a lasting impact.
