IVHQ Free-Time Experiences & Tours In Lombok

Want an awesome way to kickstart your volunteer abroad experience? Indonesia is known for its amazing culture so this is a great way to combine everything you need to know about your program while experiencing local traditions, customs and some of Lombok's must-dos activities!

You'll get to visit Buddhist temples, take an Indonesian cooking class, learn the basics of the Bahasa language, experience a pottery workshop and much more! You'll also get a detailed introduction to your project, which will help you prepare for your placement on Monday.

It will also give you a chance to meet other volunteers and swap contact details for weekend travel and socializing.

Introduction Schedule:
DAY 1 | Introduction to the IVHQ Lombok Program and the local staff, Indonesian customs, rules and expectations, safety and a Senggigi walking tour.
DAY 2 | Learn to make Ketupat like a local! You will learn to make a local meal so that you can try that out once you get back to your home country.
DAY 3 | Visit a pottery village to explore the traditional pottery-making styles of the locals. After lunch, you will then join a Bahasa language class
DAY 4 | Further practice all the words you learned yesterday! Then in the afternoon, you will visit the Islamic Center in Lombok and in the evening join a special welcome dinner.
DAY 5 | Visit the Forever Young Temple where you will be able to drink the holy water and go for a swim! In ther afternoon, you will take part in an introduction to your project which will help you prepare for your placement on Monday.

Important note:
The Introduction Week is offered as an extension to your program duration and it’s a comprehensive orientation that runs for the first 5 days of your stay. Once you complete the Introduction Week, you’ll be ready to start volunteering on the following Monday. This means that if you want to volunteer for 2 weeks and you add the introduction week to your itinerary, you’ll be hosted by the local team for a total of 3 weeks.
