IVHQ Free-Time Experiences & Tours In Fiji

The Introduction Week is an awesome way to kickstart your volunteer abroad experience and it covers everything you need to know for your volunteer program in Fiji, plus you’ll learn more about the culture and get to tick off must-do Fiji experiences! These can include a Kava welcome ceremony; visits to islands, museums and waterfalls; language, cooking and weaving classes; and relaxing at the beach.

Introduction Schedule

Monday | Volunteer orientation (an introduction to Fiji and your program, Fijian culture lessons, travel and tour opportunities), followed by a tour of Sigatoka town and a Kava Welcome Ceremony 
Tuesday | Visit Biausevu Waterfall and enjoy a Fijian Language class and Meke class ( Fijian Dance class)
Wednesday | Fijian Cooking class and visit the beautiful Maui bay 
Thursday | Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park and Fijian Weaving class 
Friday | Visit project preparation 
Weekend | Free Days 

This schedule can be changed and/or amended depending on the needs of the program, local weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

If you wish to participate in the Introduction Week, please let your IVHQ Program Manager know at least 2 weeks before you begin the program. Your IVHQ Program Manager will then add this to your file, as you need to book a place prior to departing for Fiji.

Please note that the introduction week does not involve volunteering so you will need to join the Fiji Program for a minimum duration of 2 weeks and then add the introduction week to your itinerary. For a 2 week duration this would involve your first week on the introduction week followed by 1 week of volunteering on your chosen project.

Without knowing what the right price is to pay in Fiji for an airport transfer, you can easily get overcharged, or spend a long time trying to haggle a decent price. Enjoy a stress free ride back to the airport arranged by our local team. 

You’ll be picked up from your volunteer accommodation in Fiji at your chosen time, and driven directly to Nadi International Airport with plenty of time for your flight. Transfers to other destinations can also be arranged if you are heading somewhere else. 

If you arrive outside of 6am to 4.30pm on Saturday or Sunday before your program begins, your airport pick up is not included in your Program Fee. In this case, you can either make your own way to the program or book this add-on so the local team can organize your airport pick up.

Arriving early or departing a few days after your program finished? IVHQ makes it easy to be flexible with your arrival and departure dates and offers extra nights of accommodation that you can pre-arrange before you depart. 

You will be accommodated in the same volunteer house that you will be staying during your time on the program so you can settle right in with no need to be moving around. Please note that maximum you can book for is one day before or after.

For couples, families, retirees or volunteers wanting more comfort, private room with an ensuite is available at a nearby lodge. This only a 2 minute walk from the main volunteer accommodation and volunteers who opt to stay in this lodge will still receive all their meals at the volunteer house.

These private rooms are designed for up to two people and include single beds, private bathroom and fan.

While WiFi is not available you can connect to the internet by purchasing a data package for your phone.

As the price is per room (up to 2 volunteers max) if booking with another person, only one person will need to buy this upgrade and please contact your Program Manager to inform who the other volunteer is that will be using this upgrade

Volunteers on the Fiji Program are typically accommodated in a dormitory style volunteer house; however, if you were interested in having your own room instead, then the private room hotel upgrade may be for you!

You can expect a double bed, ensuite and air conditioning. The hotel also has a pool for you to enjoy!

Please note that there is no cell phone service in the hotel so you will need to go across the road to access data on your phone.

If booking with another person, only one person needs to buy this upgrade and please contact your Program Manager to inform who the other volunteer is that will be using this upgrade.

Volunteers on the Fiji Program are typically accommodated in a dormitory style volunteer house; however, if you were interested in having your own room instead, then the private room hotel upgrade may be for you!

This room is perfect for families, groups of friends or couples that want lots of space!

You can expect a double bed, single bed, ensuite and fan. The hotel also has a pool for you to enjoy!

Only one person in the group needs to buy this upgrade and please contact your Program Manager to inform who the other volunteer(s) are that will be using this upgrade.

Please note that there is no cell service in the hotel so you will need to go across the road to access data on your phone.
