If you’re someone who enjoys seeing the rewards of your hard work, this is the project for you. By doing hands-on construction work, you can see the tangible product of your hard work at the end of each day, knowing you’re helping to make something that can have a lasting benefit to the local community.
Volunteers can help with projects in schools, community learning centres, childcare centres, other educational facilities and on infrastructure projects in the areas in and around Kathmandu, Chitlang, Pokhara and Chitwan. Tasks can include building, renovating, painting, restoration, carpentry or landscaping - whatever is required at the time. By improving these facilities you’ll be helping to make a place that’s more conducive to better learning outcomes for students.
This project is suitable for all volunteers who are interested in physical work and who are not afraid to get stuck in and get their hands dirty. Volunteers don’t need prior construction or renovation experience to participate, as you’ll work alongside qualified local staff. We recommend volunteers bring work boots and gloves, though these can be purchased in Nepal.
There is an extra cost of US$50 (approximately AU$73) per week for supervision, materials and the logistics involved in this project. This amount will be included in the Program Fee quoted to you by IVHQ when you apply.Apply now
