I had an amazing experience volunteering with IVHQ in Tanzania. I have learned so much about the culture of Africa and the experience has opened my perspective to how people across the world live in comparison to how I live at home. I have also felt a sense of personal growth and fulfilment as I have helped development issues. I would recommend IVHQ to others as it was such an easy process to join and there is always someone to help you.

What recent volunteers said about their IVHQ experience
I feel I learned a lot by having the possibility to fully immerse myself in the local culture. I also had the chance to give a real-strong impact on the community, daily cooperating with the volunteer activities. This made me grow as a person and realise that it's always more important to offer my time to support those in need.
I gained a different perspective on life. I personally loved doing the animal welfare. My advice would be to keep an open mind.
My program manager was super helpful, always replying to my questions and queries. The local team were amazing! They would help with everything, always respond to messages and made me feel safe and at home. My volunteer house was amazing, there was a real community and the mamas really cared for you.
This program helped me with personal growth, to have a better perspective of other cultures and made me confident to travel on my own.
Anyone considering the program should definitely do it, they will not regret it. It was a busy, jam packed five weeks that I will never forget and I can truly say it was the best time of my life!
IVHQ made it easy to volunteer with the organization provided. All the details were handled. The local team was good as they checked in with us in Makuyuni a couple of times.
It was rewarding to complete a chicken coop project during our 2 weeks. The project was funded by the volunteers. I felt our volunteer group accomplished something with the chicken coop. We also did other things for the school which were equally rewarding.
IVHQ stepped me through the process, alleviating any concerns of mine. The local team were always friendly and went out of their way to offer everything they could.
My host mama offered a gorgeous house which far exceeded my expectations. She was an excellent hostess and her housekeeper is a wonderful person.
It is remarkable how much, just a normal Westerner, can achieve in such a short time. I can't wait to return! You'll have the time of your life!
