Sports are a big part of life in Rio de Janeiro, particularly in low income communities where children have fewer options for entertainment. The national sport, soccer (futebol to locals), is a passion that unites Cariocas, regardless of age, gender or status.
The aim of this project is to provide opportunities for healthy, fun and constructive recreational activities to children, teenagers, adults, seniors and those with disabilities in a safe and supportive environment.
As a Sports volunteer in Brazil, you can expect to be working in a community centre that offers a diverse range of activities such as dance, martial arts, swimming, volleyball, gymnastics, soccer, futsal and adapted sports for those with disabilities.
This project is great for active volunteers with a passion for sport. We recommend letting us know your sports preferences so we can best utilise your skills, but flexibility and a willingness to participate in a range of sports is necessary.
