I gained a lot of experience. I really enjoyed working with kids, and had a lot of fun with them. The program taught me how to manage and communicate with children. I really lacked that knowledge before, so I’m grateful for that incredible opportunity to be able to participate in a Youth Support program.

What to expect and how you'll make an impact
Community Support is pivotal in fostering resilience, inclusivity, and collective well-being in Portugal. For those grappling with life’s harsher challenges – homelessness, migration, limited access to social services, economic instability, inadequate housing, or the elusive search for employment – the path to dignity and stability is steep.
There’s no universal remedy for poverty or social risk, no “one size fits all solution,” which is why our volunteers assist various initiatives that provide different types of support.
Some of the tasks involved on the Community Support project may include:
- Preparing meals
- Sorting donations
- Facilitating events
- Designing and promoting workshops
- Assist in community center’s activities
- Participate in teams at restaurants for homeless people in the center of Porto
- Make and distribute donation baskets
