Embark on a 3-day Amazon adventure through Ecuador’s stunning Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. The journey begins with an overnight bus ride from Quito to Puente Cuyabeno (not included), followed by a scenic canoe ride to an eco-lodge nestled deep in the jungle. Enjoy swimming in Laguna Grande, magical sunsets, and thrilling night walks. Day two offers a guided hike through pristine primary rainforest to discover medicinal plants, unique insects, birds, and other wildlife, with opportunities to swim and spot animals in the afternoon, capped by a nighttime canoe trip in search of caimans and boas. The final day starts with early morning birdwatching and ends with a return journey to Quito, completing an immersive and unforgettable rainforest experience.

Important information for volunteer spalnning to jon tour in July 2025 onwards:

Due to the temporary closure of the main road to Puente Cuyabeno caused by heavy rains and road conditions, the journey is now being made through an alternative route. As a result, what used to be approximately a 9-hour trip may now take between 12 and 14 hours to arrive, depending on weather and traffic conditions. We will be able to udpate you on the road conditions closer to your planned date for the tour.

This tour takes you deep into the heart of the Andes, where you’ll hike, explore, and maybe even bike your way through breathtaking volcanic landscapes and pristine high-altitude ecosystems.

Experience Highlights:

  • National Park Welcome: Upon entering the park, get a quick intro to the area's unique ecosystem, wildlife, and conservation efforts.

  • High-Altitude Ascent: Travel by vehicle to the 4,500-meter parking lot, then lace up your boots for a rewarding hike up to the José Rivas Refuge at 4,864 meters (15,953 ft). Along the way, take in awe-inspiring views of the snow-capped Cotopaxi peak.

  • Glacier Hike (Optional): For those feeling bold, continue on foot to the base of the lower glacier at 5,100 meters — a once-in-a-lifetime high-altitude experience!

  • Limpiopungo Lagoon: Descend to this peaceful lagoon nestled beneath the volcano, where you can enjoy a relaxing walk and spot native birds in their natural habitat — perfect for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Embark on a 3-day Amazon adventure through Ecuador’s stunning Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. The journey begins with an overnight bus ride from Quito to Puente Cuyabeno (not included), followed by a scenic canoe ride to an eco-lodge nestled deep in the jungle. Enjoy swimming in Laguna Grande, magical sunsets, and thrilling night walks. Day two offers a guided hike through pristine primary rainforest to discover medicinal plants, unique insects, birds, and other wildlife, with opportunities to swim and spot animals in the afternoon, capped by a nighttime canoe trip in search of caimans and boas. The final day starts with early morning birdwatching and ends with a return journey to Quito, completing an immersive and unforgettable rainforest experience.

Important information for volunteer spalnning to jon tour in July 2025 onwards:

Due to the temporary closure of the main road to Puente Cuyabeno caused by heavy rains and road conditions, the journey is now being made through an alternative route. As a result, what used to be approximately a 9-hour trip may now take between 12 and 14 hours to arrive, depending on weather and traffic conditions. We will be able to udpate you on the road conditions closer to your planned date for the tour.
