The service and contact I received from IVHQ was very good – before during and after. I stayed with Thiary and her family in Phnom Penh and I cannot fault there hospitality and assistance whilst I was there. So much care and consideration goes into everything. I was placed in an HIV orphanage and it was everything I expected and much much more. It really delivered on what I was looking for out of the experience and the children truly touched my heart and altered my direction in life. The nuns at the missionary were so full of love and gratitude – these ladies and many other people I met are the most selfless people I have ever met in my life. The volunteers, both through the orientation and the long term ones that I met are truly inspiring individuals. I could go on forever with my favourite moments but it was always the moments with the kids, playing with them, teaching English too them, counting medication with them, picking them up from school, waking them up and dressing them after their nap, walking with them, the kids trying to get into the volunteer areas, having them jump all over us when we turned up in our tuk tuk every single morning – the list goes on. The carers who could not speak English were amazing and we had some fantastic bonding moments with them. I learnt how to read their arm movements and head gestures and I taught them my name and how to say thank you. Truly incredible woman.
