my favourite moments were meeting tons of people, and meeting the street kids in kenya. I also helped deliver a baby at the clinic in mombasa. another favourite was the weekend trip to uganda, and zanzibar.

There were two days that really stand out for me. the first was the day we took the special needs people to the zoo. We were one on one with them and i was with a man called Carlos Sanchez! He loved every minute which made me enjoy every minute. Seeing how happy we could make them from just one day out to the zoo made me so happy. The other day was the sports day at the home, Hogar de Cristo. We arrived at 11 and stayed til 6pm and it was a great day. First we met everyone which for peruvians is a huge deal and takes a while to go round and hug everyone. Then we had a little show from different people from the home, one of the orphan boys juggled, the special needs men did a hilarious dance involving imitating being drunk. The special needs women put on a dance too, a traditional peruvian one. They then put on some music and we all danced! they all love to dance! it was so much fun! while the music was playing we started the volleyball game, we were all awful compared to the boys at the home!! but when it came to the football we were similar abilities, but they still beat us 4-2. The people who werent involved in the sports stayed dancing and having fun all day, it was so much fun. a great day.

To put my experience into words proved to be a difficult task. Though I was there for a short amount of time, I experienced more than most would have in a lifetime. (And as cliché as that sounds, it’s the truth!) It is volunteer programs such as IVHQ - Colombia that allow a person to have unforgettable life-experiences and make life-long friendships. I came with the intent of simply wanting to help in any way that I could, not realizing that I had the chance to make a difference. Then an experience that I will never forget occurred, where I felt like an unworthy recipient of a strangers kind words and a gift in which held extreme sentimental value to him. I was more than honored to be in his presence and to have met him. His words will be with me forever, as will the bracelet in which was given to me from his wrist to mine.
Working at “Hogar de Christo” is an amazing experience in its own. The facility itself is well organized and clean. I was fortunate to have met and spent time with amazing ladies. Whether it is dancing or simply conversating, their faces and unique personalities I will never forget. In general the tasks that are to be done are more like activities, like entertaining the older ladies by creating exercise routines or in me and Al’s case dancing to Shakira until they drop or the classic “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”. The time in which I spent in Colombia was extremely too short, which is why I plan to return next summer. Colombia is a country with undiscovered beauty, amazing people and great times to be had. In other words…I Loved It!!!

I spent one month volunteering in Bogotá and I never expected it to be the life changing experience that it was. Five days a week I spent the day at an elderly home for women who have been found on the streets of Bogotá, homeless and without family. I loved brightening their day and although they always thanked me for the work I did, I feel that I gained so much more from them and my experience. I was a little nervous before arriving in Colombia because of its seemingly still poor stereotype with drugs and war, however I immediately was at ease when I saw first hand at how progressed it is and have honestly never felt safer in any other foreign country. I lived right near downtown and the housing was extremely comfortable, the hosting outstanding, and the Colombian food fantastic. Bogotá is a huge, modernized city which I had plenty of time to explore during my downtime and on weekends when I didn't travel outside of the city. I also made lots of friends there which added to my experience even more. I highly recommend volunteering with IVHQ - Colombia; it is an organization dedicated to serving those in need in Colombia and I can guarantee that it will be one of the best and most rewarding experiences of your life.

'I have been in peru doing the orphanage programme for 3 weeks now and i have got one more week before i return back home to england. i have to say that this has been a truly great experience. the reason why this has been great is because the country is really beautiful and the host and family have been really welcoming since day one. they helped me whenever i needed them and its been lovely making a difference to the orphans lives. i just want to say thank you to ivhq and the staff for making this happen and if there is anyone out there who want to do an affordable volunteer programme, then trust me IVHQ is the one'

Information Booklet - The information in the booklet was great and really helpful.
General Service - I was very impressed with the quality of service and prompt replies.
I would rate you 9 out of 10 only because nothing is perfect. I would rate the Nepal team 9 out of 10 for the same reason. They were excellent and everything ran to clockwork and the Nepalese were extremely friendly and helpful.

My experience in Ghana has been unforgettable. The children at the orphanage had such a huge impact on me and I found myself wanting to spend more and more time with them each day. Being able to communicate in basic Twi was also hugely beneficial. The locals were also extremely receptive to volunteers and made everyone feel very welcome in Nkwanta. I also loved helping out at football training and it was great to see the kids take in some new training methods so quickly. The permanent smiles on the faces of so many of the children is an image that will stay with me forever

The friendliness of the people and the natural beauty of the country have made Ghana the perfect place to volunteer for me. I have enjoyed speaking to the locals and learning the Twi language whilst in Nkwanta and on my travels. The children at the orphanage make the experience unforgettable and are quite humbling. My happiest moment was when we were all sat around and the kids started singing a song for us in Twi. My saddest moment was when the kids went 1.0 down in the local derby. My biggest regret is not staying for longer and the kids are praying for me to get a good job after university so that I might be able to go back!

I would like to say thank you to you and your team for all the effort you have made to help me make the most of my time here.
If ever there has been any problem or diffiulty or even just ideas and suggestions, you have always been prepared to listen and more than that to act to to change things. I know that other volunteers feel as I do and are very grateful for your concern and actions. Hopefully it does not seem as if we are just complaining!
I would like to wish you good luck for the future

I just wanted to send and email to thank you all for the wonderful volunteering experience I had. The program was very different than I expected it to be, but I very much enjoyed helping at the schools and being with the children.
I also wanted to express my gratitude towards the host family. They were very accomodating and I would recommend them for many future volunteers. I hope they can continue to recieve many volunteers, since they are so hospitable and welcoming.
Thank you for everything!
