My project exceeded my every expectation - this was without a doubt the single greatest experience of my life!
I was ‘over-appreciated’ in many ways! My host family made me feel so at home from the moment I got there. I feel like they were constantly putting me FIRST. I was there hoping to meet THEIR needs and yet all they could concern themselves with was my level of comfort. I was overwhelmed by their kindness...
The accommodation was excellent -VERY VERY CLEAN - (they sweep the dirt driveway every day and the sink is so clean you can see your reflection in it!). I left my sneakers outside one night and found them outside my bedroom door the next morning perfectly cleaned and polished.
The food was delish and again they are very sanitary in their preparations and clean up. I can’t say enough about the host family - never in my life have I met such wonderful welcoming people!
More people need to have this kind of experience in life!! Thanks for EVERYTHING!

I thought the service was great, all of my questions were answered quickly and sufficiently.
The accommodation was great. I was in the volunteer house, which was nice because I got to interact with the family who owned the home, as well as other volunteers. The house was clean, food was excellent, and the people were friendly.
I really enjoyed playing soccer with the kids, and helping the kids prepare for a Mother's Day performance.
I wish I could have stayed longer, I had a great experience. Sometimes I felt like I wasn't making a change, but after seeing how grateful they were for every little bit it made me realize it is a big process that takes time and every little bit helps. It definitely opened my eyes to the experiences of others and I can't wait to participate in another volunteer trip.

I was very happy with the orientation, especially when they brought us directly to our project and showed us around.
I felt very appreciated and I felt as though I made a difference in the three weeks that I was here, and i learned a lot and gained a lot of experience myself.
I was very very happy with my accommodations. My host mother made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in and she even walked me to the bus stop in the morning to make sure I found it ok, talk about a mom away from home!!!
I really enjoyed getting to know the other volunteers and the girls that I worked with. They were all so sweet and welcoming and I had a lit of fun working with them.
Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity to volunteer!! If was an amazing experience and I hope to have the opportunity to book through IVHQ again really soon!! Keep up the good work!

I just wanted to write and detail how grateful I was to the China Program Co-ordinator, David, for the wonderful help and assistance given to me and everyone on the Program I was involved with. David was kind, caring but also very professional. Nothing was too much effort, his group of assistants were also invaluable, allowing for us to have a range of people to go to if David was unavailable. My time in China was wonderful and this was down to, in no small part, David's effective running of the program.
His family were also very welcoming and took you in as if you were one of their own. I cannot recommend David, his assistants and his family highly enough. I had a wonderful time and would definitely look to use IVHQ again.

The local team is awesome. All the co ordinations are very lovely people. Very accommodating and friendly, they arranged everything perfectly and I would recommend IVHQ to anyone wishing to volunteer overseas. I have had the best month ever!
The orientation was awesome! Felt like I truly got a feel of Vietnamese culture in just one week.
Every day was equally as awesome as the last. I had my birthday here and expected nothing from anybody, but the co-ordinators arranged a karaoke night and a beautiful birthday cake which I was more than grateful for. My favourite moment volunteering wise would have to be at the centre last week, one of the children challenged Ryan to a sit up competition which turned into Ryan doing press ups with each of the little ones taking turns sitting on his back, I got down to do some press ups and this little boy with severe cerebral palsy got so excited and literally jumped on my back, hugging my neck with his legs around my waist, most adorable moment of my life! Still aching now!
I am so grateful to IVHQ and the local staff for providing me with the best month of my life. It'll be hard to top by any means. This is definitely not the last time I will be volunteering abroad with IVHQ.

The project I worked on had a great goal and the people were very nice and helpful once there. It was a very good experience and I am thinking of other opportunities on other parts of the world with IVHQ.
IVHQ has the lowest program fees I have seen. Very pleased with this and honestly would not have done it through another group due to this.

My program is going great so far. We just ended the orientation, which was really nice to explore the city and get to know the main attractions. I really appreciated that it was 5 days long. I can't wait to start volunteering tomorrow!

I had been counting down for a 107 days and finally the day had come. 14th of January I got on the plane towards Ghana, Africa.
I have travelled a lot in Asia and other European countries before but I had never been to Africa and everything was just so exciting. When I ordered the trip with IVHQ I had never imagined it would be the best time of my life.
After graduation I decided I wanted to do voluntary work for some months. At first I hadn't decided on a precise location except I wished to go to Africa. Researching among African countries quickly helped me decide to go to Ghana. The people were friendly, it was an English speaking country and the nature looked beautiful. Once I had registered I started planning when to get my vaccinations and visa. During the planning I received all the help I needed from both IVHQ and the local staff in Ghana. Including a project coordinator, a letter of invitation for my visa and a program booklet with all the information about my program and Ghana. 2 weeks before departure I received a mail with my specific project, saying that I was placed on the teaching project (as requested) in the small town of Frankadua, Volta Region.
At arrival I was picked up in the airport with the other arriving volunteers and taken to the volunteer house in Accra. The first night was special and waking up in a strange house so far away from home was definitely an intimidating experience.
The first part of the 15th was orientation which in every way was useful. This included of course information about Ghana and the programs and also a language course.
After this we were transported to our programs and finally I got to see Ghana in daylight! After a bumpy two hour ride we reached Frankadua and were introduced to the other volunteers on placement. Wow! Everything was so different from my expectations. It wasn't worse than my expectations just very different.
The following day we visited the schools and selected which one we wished to teach at. The kids were wonderful and teaching has in every way exceeded my expectations. Being responsible for teaching a class how to do long division or multiplication may seem a bit meaningless once you start but when they finally get it you feel so proud of yourself and of course the children.
Once every week our project coordinator either visited us or gave us a phone call to make sure everything was going as planned. In Frankadua we also had a go-to person in case of any enquiries. At no point did I feel as if I was left on my own.
Being part of the local community is also a giving experience and once I adapted I felt like I had lived in Ghana for many years. Living the African lifestyle definitely grows on you.
I can't say that the first two weeks weren't really hard and I kept asking myself why I had chosen to do this but once I got the routine, the close friends (locals and the other volunteers) and spent time with the adorable children I was sold. Loving Ghana, the next many weeks flew by and before I had realized it, it was time to go home. I had been traveling, teaching, playing sports and having a blast for whole 3 months!! I celebrated Easter in Ghana as well which meant going to a huge part and dancing all night with some very talented locals.
Leaving Ghana is probably the hardest thing I have ever tried and adapting at home took a big effort. Since I came home I've been in contact with friends in Frankadua and there is no doubt that I am returning. I would anytime recommend volunteering in Ghana and if I could give someone good advice it would be to just be open towards everything and I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

My questions were answered completely and quickly by IVHQ and I felt well prepared for my trip.
I was very happy with the two orientation days and felt very welcome and comfortable from the first day. The staff is doing an excellent job and even though there are many volunteers coming and leaving, everybody's individual needs are addressed.
My host family was absolutely awesome! I was treated like a member of the family and was able to live the Cambodian culture and e.g. join them visiting their families in the provinces. I am very thankful for this experience and will keep in contact with them.
I was able to use my skills but was also able to support the NGO in other areas like proposal writing or organizing events.
Some of my favorite moments were taking the kids from a local orphanage out for rollerskating, the water park and the cinema, visiting my host family's relatives in the provinces and meeting many interesting people from all over the world and making new friends.

Our host was a wonderful woman. I would ask to stay with her again if I went back. My granddaughter and I enjoyed the children very much and they were very affectionate by the time we left. The local staff do an excellent job and were extremely polite and helpful.
