Study Trip With IVHQ

Bianca Mazzocchi, a student from Victoria University in Australia, has recently returned from volunteering in India as part of her psychology degree.

Bianca spent two weeks in Delhi on IVHQ's Women Empowerment program to study the way in which Indian women cope with trauma compared to Western women.

IVHQ works in collaboration with our local partner to empower and support the marginalized and disadvantaged women in India. Through the Women Empowerment program, volunteers provide counseling and monitoring and help women by teaching and assisting with leather work, doll making, stitching and beautician work.

Before starting the program, Bianca took part in the one week IVHQ language and cultural orientation in Delhi, which gives volunteers the opportunity to participate in Hindi language classes, visit the Taj Mahal and meet fellow volunteers.

Bianca spent the weekdays volunteering in the women’s centre and weekends working in a nearby orphanage.

This study trip will count towards Bianca's final subject at university before she graduates with a Bachelor of Psychology and IVHQ is proud to be able to offer such opportunities for students like Bianca.
