Popular Volunteer Programs

August has almost arrived and with it the excitement of what is so far our busiest month of 2011 at International Volunteer HQ. With the Northern Hemisphere’s summer holidays in full swing, we have 560 volunteers starting their volunteering abroad in August, 309 of which will begin their volunteer programs on Monday 1st!! If you are one of these volunteers Good Luck and have a great time!

We still have places available to start Monday 15th August on all our volunteer programs, and with 222 volunteers also starting that day potential volunteers will need to get in quick to gain a place on our popular volunteer programs!

Our top 3 volunteer programs for August are our volunteer in Kenya, volunteer in Costa Rica and volunteer in Nepal programs, each with over 40 volunteers starting on August 1st. Adam Sharp and his family recently returned from their volunteer in Kenya program and had a fantastic time abroad, giving us a great volunteer review. “As you know, we are a family of 6, my wife and I have 4 children who went with us, ages 14, 12, 9, and 7. Allowing them to experience Kenya and form relationships with the children there was priceless. There are a lot of volunteer websites out there, but the pictures and the volunteer testimonials on your website made me trust IVHQ and feel comfortable bringing my family out.” Thanks to the Sharp family for your enthusiasm and hard work!

For those volunteering alone, Krista Fincke, recently returning from volunteering in Costa Rica, wrote “Volunteering abroad, on my own, may be one of the best decisions I have made. I met great new people, truly experienced a new culture (outside of a resort), learned a lot about myself and the place I was visiting, and made a small difference in the lives of some students” and she proves that you can have a great time exploring the country while volunteering, saying “The excursions with the other volunteers I met was probably the best experience, being able to also share experiences from our various placements. We went away to Manuel Antonio as a large group (transported by the local staff), went ziplining and sat on the beach. It was nice to have the weekends to travel after a week of volunteering.”

Also coming up in August we are very proud to be opening two new programs; volunteer in Mexico and volunteer in Brazil. We have put a huge amount of effort into these two programs to ensure that they will be the high quality and affordable volunteer programs that we strive for at IVHQ. We are sure that these new programs will be a fantastic addition and we will be opening applications for these programs soon, so keep watching the website for more information!
