Within Croatia, people from disadvantaged communities can struggle for adequate access to education. This leads to unequal opportunities for those born into these neighborhoods, maintaining a class divide across the country. As a volunteer teacher, you’ll be contributing to increasing access to education for those who need it, helping to open up new possibilities for their future.
Volunteers help a local NGO that focuses on teaching different languages to locals. English is by far the most common language being taught but if you are fluent in another language, and there is interest from locals to learn it, then you may also be able to teach that too.
You’ll lead lessons independently for students of all ages and abilities, including adults who need advanced language skills for careers in tourism, children who have language difficulties or beginners who want to learn a new language.
This project is well suited to aspiring teachers who would like to extend their teaching skills abroad as well as any volunteers interested in a cultural exchange that involves teaching language to those in need.
As you will be volunteering with the support of IVHQ’s local team and placement staff, you do not need to be a qualified or experienced teacher to participate on this project. However, we encourage you to come prepared by completing some relevant training. Visit our Online TEFL Course page to learn how to gain an internationally-recognized TEFL certification at a discounted rate.
This project has a minimum duration requirement of 3 weeks.
