Manuel Antonio has become a hugely popular tourist area in Costa Rica, meaning many locals are employed in the tourist industry. The ability to speak English is seen as essential for those to get a tourism job, and those who can’t face much tougher employment prospects.
Volunteer English teachers can assist in classrooms, community centers and even family homes. Students are mostly adults, with some children too.
Teaching English volunteer placements are open to all those with an interest in education. You will receive lesson planning assistance, materials and books, as well as a teaching English crash course to get started.
You aren’t required to have teaching experience to participate on this project as you will be assisted by local staff. You can expect to be running classes independently, so we recommended completing a teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) course before traveling to Costa Rica if you don’t have prior teaching experience. Visit our Online TEFL Course to learn how to gain an internationally-recognized TEFL certification at a discounted rate. Our local team also provide Teaching English volunteers with a TEFL “crash course” and educational materials to help get you started.
Please note that this project requires a minimum duration requirement of 3 weeks.Apply now
