The Lighthouse Orphanage
This orphanage is located in the hills surrounding San Jose, approximately 30 minutes from our office. This orphanage has 21 children. The boys and girls of this orphanage range in age from 2 – 21 years old and receive classes inside the orphanage. There are some children with disabilities who need special care. Volunteers are involved in organizing educational games, teaching English, providing one-one-one care and assisting with daily activities and chores. It is important to note that volunteers need to respect the rules of the organization. 1-6 volunteers generally work at this project. NB This is only an example placement which is one of many offered by IVHQ in Costa Rica and not necessarily the one you will be working at.
