Olympic Educational Centre is a primary school serving students from nursery class to standard eight (about ages 3 through 15). Specifically at Olympic, there are already teachers on staff as well as ongoing volunteers who have successfully implemented the music program at a basic level within the school. Classes give students a basic understanding of musical theory (note reading, etc) as well as instrument and vocal training. For the future success of the program, volunteers are required to help develop the music curriculum and apply it within the school, assist with fundraising activities for purchasing instruments (any fundraised money you can bring is always appreciated as we can purchase instruments in Kenya) and spread the program into other schools in the area.  NB This is only an example placement which is one of many offered by IVHQ in Kenya and not necessarily the one you will be working at.
