Neemaland Queens and Kings Palace is located 10km from Nairobi city centre and takes care of 140 children aged between 3-16 years. These children attend school at the orphanage and also sleep there. They receive food for meals from well-wishers and local churches which volunteers help to collect and prepare. The orphanage is run by a team of local workers who volunteers assist with teaching, cleaning, cooking and playing with the children. Previous volunteers have initiated project, like chicken/egg farms and a garden at the orphanage which has generated some income to assist with daily food costs. NB This is only an example placement which is one of many offered by IVHQ in Kenya and not necessarily the one you will be working at.
