Manu Biosphere Reserve
This project is located in the Manu Biosphere Reserve. The aim of the project is to focus on the preservation and conservation of the environment and the recuperation of natural resources in a way which is compatible with the social and economic development of the area. Volunteers are involved in different types of work depending on the time of year. For example, volunteers can help with the planting and monitoring of orchids and the removal of (non-native) bamboo. Volunteers also assist with creating an inventory of animals such as the “gallito de las rocas” (a typical Peruvian bird) and monkeys. During rainy days or days off there is the option of helping with crafts and artwork at the lodge or helping at the local school. 1-6 volunteers generally work at this project. NB This is only an example placement which is one of many offered by IVHQ in Peru-Cusco and not necessarily the one you will be working at.
