Mama Babu Home
The Mama Babu Home is located in one of the slums of Nairobi called Kawangware. At least 20 children visit her everyday to be taught, play and eat when there is food. Children are brought from the community by parents who suffer from HIV/AIDS, others cannot afford to take care of their children while others are orphans. Mama Babu does home visits to the affected men and women and helps them where she can through counseling and food distributions. In addition to this volunteers have helped with educational classes for community groups in Kawangware. NB This is only an example placement which is one of many offered by IVHQ in Kenya and not necessarily the one you will be working at.
