Kenya Young Women’s Education Program (KYWEP)
The KYWEP program takes place at a variety of locations around the Kibera and greater Nairobi area including schools, orphanages, and other centers in which there a large concentration of females. Programs take place on a variety of days and times including sessions after school to all-day events held on the weekend. During the program, girls are split into groups based on age; each group is then presented with corresponding information relevant to age including topics from physiological processes to relationships and women's rights. Another goal of KYWEP is to gather a large and continuous supply of needed sanitary items so that the young women may be able to remain in class instead of taking a leave of absence. NB This is only an example placement which is one of many offered by IVHQ in Kenya and not necessarily the one you will be working at.
