This school located in a very low income area of Cusco is led by the principal and 4 other instructors. There are 130 children in grades 1 through 6. The children range in ages from 6-15 years old. This school’s objectives are to provide the children with good education which will prepare them for secondary school. Volunteers are involved in teaching English as well as sharing their personal skills with the children. This project allows volunteers to teach physical education, dance/theatre classes, music workshops, art classes and hygiene/nutrition workshops and reading/story time. Volunteers are also involved in constructing a playground and a library. 1-2 volunteers generally work at this project. NB This is only an example placement which is one of many offered by IVHQ in Peru-Cusco and not necessarily the one you will be working at.
